Home Insulation Scheme (HIS)

What is Funded:
Home energy audit, advice on making your home more energy efficient, and information on services from the Energy Saving Trust.
If eligible - cavity wall and loft insulation at a specially negotiated price, or free of charge to certain eligible households, principally households in receipt of qualifying benefits or those aged 70+. Those with existing loft insulation may be offered top-up loft insulation free of charge, irrespective of the size of the loft.
Additional support to install insulation, for example for loft clearance or scaffolding, may be available.

Funding Levels:
£48 million fund for both Home Insulation Scheme and Energy Assistance Package, (£14 million for HIS alone) with HIS funding subsidising material and installation costs, with applicant typically responsible for the cost of cavity wall insulation between £89 to £199 and the cost of loft insulation between £109 to £249 depending on the area.
Criteria:
The scheme targets every household in each Home Insulation Scheme area. Eligibility in 10 specified qualified areas in Scotland.
