Climate Challenge Fund Scotland


What is Funded:

The Climate Challenge Fund is a grant scheme. Keep Scotland Beautiful and made funding of £37.7million available to communities across the four financial years 2008-12.

Funding Levels:

£27.4 million (2008 ‐11)

£10.3 million (2011‐12)

The Scottish Government’s spending review has confirmed that the CCF will continue to support communities in this way. £10.3 million will be available to Scottish communities until 31 March 2015.

Criteria:

Applicants must be based in Scotland, be legally constituted, made by not-for-profit distributing community groups, from the community sector and not householders or individuals.        

  • All projects must place communities at the core of the proposal.
  • All projects must be located in Scotland.
  • The project must include a measurable and significant reduction in carbon emissions.
  • Plans for the monitoring and evaluation of the project must be included in any proposal.
  • The project should have a positive lasting legacy beyond the three years of the funding programme.
  • The project must meet all general legal, statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • There must be a satisfactory maintenance and management plan for any capital elements of the project.
  • Applicants must allow publication of grant assisted work and reasonable access to those seeking to replicate or assess the project.
  • The project should consider its impact not only in carbon reduction terms but also to ensure it has a positive, economic, social and environmental impact.


Application Process:

To start the process, you will need to submit an initial Expression of Interest (EoI) form: Expression of Interest Form (Online Version). After KSB have received this, you will then be issued with a full application form and allocated a KSB Development Officer who will be able to provide you with guidance as to how to fill it out.

The projects are undertaking a wide range of activities, including increasing energy efficiency of homes and community buildings, helping communities to reduce, reuse and recycle their waste, encouraging the use of low carbontransport and active travel options, and the consumption and production of local foods.
