Dumbiedykes EcoCity

Engaging the local community in aspects of building projects that will affect them is a powerful way of ensuring participation and inclusion in the decision making process, as well as encouraging ownership of the end product.

Dumbiedykes EcoCity

This project involved 44 children from 4 schools in the Dumbiedykes and surrounding area. Based at Our Dynamic Earth and working alongside 20 local community representatives, the children developed a 5m x 5m scale model of the area - addressing sustainability issues and envisaging the future of their area.

Dumbiedykes, The Old Town and Southside (DOTS) area in Edinburgh is located close to the new Scottish Parliament.

The project was led by TASC Agency, The Children's Parliament and Gaia Architects in collaboration with the Dumbiedykes Neighbourhood Association.

It is our intention to re-run the project during 2006 - 2007.
